Welcome to Our Web Home

The Bytown Woodturners Guild is dedicated towards advancing the knowledge and skills of wood lathe turning. Although we are relatively small in number, the depth of knowledge of our members is significant. Our size allows new members to quickly get to know other members and to learn from each other.

Our Mission Statement

The Bytown Woodturners Guild is committed to the pursuit and development of wood art.

We are an accredited chapter of the American Association of Woodturners (Chapter #333) which allows members access to a vast array of information and resources including on-line video demonstrations.

If you are new to wood turning, we have a mentoring program to guide you through the learning process. If you are an experienced wood turner, our club allows you the opportunity to network with other skilled amateur and professional turners. Although our meetings are held in Ottawa, our membership includes wood turners from eastern Ontario and western Quebec.

If you are interested in joining the Bytown Woodturners Guild, please go to the "Join the Guild" page .

If you are just curious and want more information, please go to the "Contact Us" page and let us help you. We also invite you to join us for a no-obligation visit at a meeting or workshop. We think you will be glad you did.

Our Meetings and Workshops

The Bytown Woodturners Guild meets the 3rd Monday ten months of the year (excluding July and August) at 7:00 p.m. at Mel Baker Hall in the J. Alph Dulude Arena Complex (see map below). We also hold monthly workshops giving you an opportunity for hands-on learning, questions/answers with experienced woodturners, and the honing of your wood turning skills. Workshops are the Saturday after each club meeting from 8:30 a.m. into the afternoon (usually ending at approximately 2:00 p.m.)
